Annually, April 11 to 17 is designated as Black Maternal Health Week. The CDC states “Black women are three times more likely to die from a pregnancy-related cause than White women” [1]. There are many different factors that contribute to black maternal deaths including social determinants of health, the availability and quality of healthcare and bias.
